Charity Information
The Mozartists, under the dynamic leadership of conductor and artistic director Ian Page, are leading exponents of the music of Mozart and his contemporaries. Originally called Classical Opera, the company was founded in 1997, and has received widespread international acclaim for its stylish and virtuosic period-instrument orchestra, its imaginative and innovative programming, and its ability to nurture and develop world-class young artists. The Mozartists have a prolific recording profile, and perform regularly at the UK’s leading venues. In 2015 the company launched MOZART 250, a ground-breaking 27-year project exploring the chronological trajectory of Mozart’s life, works and influences.
Mission Statement
Nurturing outstanding emerging artists is central to our mission. For over two decades we have played a pivotal role in the development of many of the country’s most accomplished singers. Alongside our public performances, we aim to deliver a wide-reaching programme of music-led education projects in schools. Taking Mozart’s music as a starting point and incorporating
compositions that he wrote at the same age as the participants, our dedicated team of animateurs, singers and instrumentalists ignite creativity and curiosity in children in each of the Key Stages. We are currently working with approximately 4,000 children annually and we are continually adding to our programme in partnership with organisations which include John Lyon’s Charity, Ealing Music Service, and Harrow Music Service.
